Artist Statement

For this second artist in residence showcase, I wanted to include the primary modes of making that I’ve learned at TechShop. From the laser cutter to the CNC quilter, the technology available at TechShop’s maker space has allowed me to pursue a range of concepts and materials in search of the common thread that ties together my wide-ranging interests. Circular motifs, iteration, pattern, and a combination of hand craft with digital tools have emerged as themes in this work. I’ll continue to explore these ideas as I move from Arizona back to my home in Alaska in summer 2017. Access to this equipment and the expertise of TechShop’s staff has opened a Pandora’s box of ideas and means of implementation that I’ll adapt to a new studio and outdoor environment.
